Do You Respect Yourself?

Well Obviously, everyone respects themselves. Everybody knows what’s good and bad for them. However, we do certain things ‘Out of love’ that makes us question our self-respect later on. But why do we do that?

Doing Things ‘Out of Love’

When we love someone, be it our partner, our friends or family and whenever we fight with them, our heart will tell us to mend things with them no matter what, but our brain will have a practical response to that situation. But in those situations, we usually listen to our heart and do things ‘Out of love’ for that person, even if we have to lose everything for them.

One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.

Shannon L. Alder

Self-respect Vs Ego

I’m not saying it’s wrong, but if you’re doing it everytime, then it is wrong. There is a thin line between self-respect and ego. Self-respect is respecting ourselves, protecting our integrity and mental health. Whereas ego is just prioritizing yourself no matter what or who you’ll lose in the process.

There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. ‘Good pride’ represents our dignity and self-respect. ‘Bad pride’ is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance.”

John C. Maxwell

Protect Your Self-esteem

Protect your self-esteem. You have to realize that some people that come into your life are permanent, while others come into your life just to teach you a lesson. If some days are all happy and cheerful, then there will come days which will be gloomy and sad. You have to live them both. Such is life. That said don’t lose yourself in the process of finding others. The right people will come into your life sooner or later and those people will never make you question your self-worth or self-respect.

They cannot take away our self-respect if we do not give it to them.
